Stephen and I hung out at Malloy’s in Old Forge giving away free beer, food and Jackson paraphernalia. Later in the evening we went to Matt & Pyranha’s party at another bar where they were enjoying a pimp & ho theme. I put on a Mrs. Claus outfit and went as a “ho ho ho”! It was a lot of fun!

Saturday we drove up to Watertown, NY where this mythical wave was supposed to have come in with high water. It is called “Inner-city Strife” and it was huge and awesome!! I was a little intimidated at first, as it was my first time back in a kayak since the Gauley River tragedy. I practiced a few rolls, and with the help of the guys who offered to spot me, started feeling comfortable again! We surfed all day Saturday, drove back to Old Forge Saturday night where Stephen worked talking to people about Jackson Kayaks at the festival and I took pictures and chatted with folks.

Me hanging on, learning to surf Inner City
Sunday, “Big-Air Stephen” HAD to go back to Inner-City Strife and I wasn’t about to complain, so we had an awesome breakfast at the Muffin Patch in Old Forge, stopped to pick up a NY gazeteer for Stephen and drove up to Watertown. We spent the whole day surfing the wave, decided to stay another day instead of go to Ottawa right away, so the four of us got the most “Kayaker-Friendly” hotel room in upstate NY. (Yes, I spent the whole weekend sharing a hotel room with three dudes… I am such a stud!)

My fav pic of the weekend, maybe I could be a pro photographer!
In the morning I drove back to Ottawa to go to school, while the guys surfed a third day on the Black River. Corey and Stephen arrived in Ottawa around 6:30pm and after hooking them up with wireless Internet, we went to Outback for a HUGE dinner. I had early morning classes on Tuesday, and once class was over we drove an hour west to the Ottawa River and surfed Garberator until the sun went down.
What a great weekend! Life is Good!
